I've been doing blogging for a long time, on and off. Mostly off than on. I was building websites since the mid-1990s, but it was probably in the early 2000s that I started my first "blog". I think many blogging services like Blogger, LiveJournal, and WordPress all started around that time.
I had many different blogs over the years, with different themes, ranging from philosophical to technical, and the most "successful" blog was Glass Diary (glassdiary.com). When Google Glass came out, I started that blog to document my thoughts on, and my experiences with, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). It had a decent amount of traffic. I think it had over a thousand unique views a day. It could be a very small number for some people, but I never had that kind of readership before, and after.
People talk about "attention economy". It's getting harder and harder to get people's attention these days. We are all trying to be "somebody", but at the end of the day, we are all "nobodies". One of eight billion people on this planet.
For me, blogging is like keeping a diary, a personal journal. It's not about who, or how many people, read my posts. The most important part of blogging is, in fact, the act of writing itself. It makes you think.
That's why I keep coming back to blogging.
